چکیده

ij ij Q P , CONCLUSIONS A general purpose MILP model for allocation problems in any given number of dimensions is presented. The model is concerned with the allocation of items in an N-dimensional space. To demonstrate the formulation, a number of illustrative examples in different number of dimensions are solved. 1, 2, 3 and 4-dimensional problems are presented and solved using the proposed model. For a specific number of dimensions more efficient special purpose models may be created. Nonetheless, The given N-dimensional allocation model offers also in such cases a general platform as a basis for the model. The novelty of the model is the applicability on a wide variety of problems in any given number of dimensions.

Modeling and Optimization of Truck-Shovel Allocation to Mining Faces in Cement Quarry

Truck and shovel are the most common raw material transportation system used in the cement quarry operations. One of the major challenges associated with the cement quarry operations is the efficient allocation of truck and shovel to the mining faces. In order to minimize the truck and shovel operating cost, subject to quantity and quality constraints, the mixed integer linear programing (MILP)...

Symmetry breaking generalized disjunctive formulation for the strip packing problem

The two-dimensional strip packing is a special case of “Cutting and Packing” problems that arises in many applications. The problem seeks to pack a given set of rectangles into a strip of given width in order to minimize its length. Some applications in which the strip packing problem arises are: Cutting pieces from wooden boards, cutting pieces from glass or steel sheets, optimal layout of ind...

Optimal Allocation of Electric Vehicles' Parking Lots in Distribution System Considering Urban Traffic

Abstract: Parking lots for electric vehicles (EVs) can make good utilization of the EVschr('39') battery capacity due to the large number of EVs. However, the location and size of parking lots will affect the distribution network condition. In this paper, a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is proposed for locating and determining the optimal capacity of EVschr('39') parking lots co...

Classification, Customization, and Characterization: Using MILP for Task Allocation and Scheduling

Task allocation and scheduling for heterogeneous multicore platforms must be automated for such platforms to be successful. Techniques such as Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) provide the ability to easily customize the allocation and scheduling problem to application or platform-specific peculiarities. The representation of the core problem in a MILP form has a large impact on the solut...

Combining Geographic Information Systems for Transportation and Mixed Integer Linear Programming in Facility Location-Allocation Problems

In this study, we aimed to assess the solution quality for location-allocation problems from facilities generated by the software TransCAD®, a Geographic Information System for Transportation (GIS-T). Such facilities were obtained after using two routines together: Facility Location and Transportation Problem, when compared with optimal solutions from exact mathematical models, based on Mixed I...
